App Ops Desk · Issue #10
Review notes and demo accounts
You know how the app works. Reviewers get one build, one set of notes, and zero Slack access. Unclear demos create rejections that feel personal and are usually operational.
One action this week: Create or refresh a dedicated review demo account. Put username, password, MFA bypass steps, and the exact happy path in one note you will paste into App Review.
What reviewers need
- How to reach the feature under review without a 12-step setup
- Credentials that work on a clean device
- Any region, hardware, or subscription gate explained up front
- Contact path if something is environment-flaky
Failure modes
- Demo account expired password or forced reset
- MFA / magic-link that only works on your phone
- Feature flag off for production while notes describe it as on
- Backend seed data missing in the production API the binary hits
- Notes written for last version’s IA
- Paywall with no sandbox instructions
Review packet template
Build: 1.6.0 (241) What changed (1–3 bullets): Happy path to test: 1. 2. 3. Demo account: user: pass: notes (MFA/bypass): Feature flags that must be ON: Hardware / region requirements: Known non-blocking issues: Contact: you@domain (response SLA during review)
Timing rule
Write review notes during metadata freeze (Issue #3), not while Connect is processing. If the binary changes after notes, re-read the notes as a stranger.
Ignore list
- “They can figure it out from screenshots”
- Using your personal account with 2FA you cannot share
- Arguing policy before fixing a broken demo path
Bottom line
Treat App Review like a new teammate with a bad VPN and no context. Give them a working door, not a treasure map.
