App Ops Desk · Issue #13
Screenshot and preview ops
Screenshots are the most expensive “quick polish” in solo iOS. Without a size list, a copy freeze, and a last-known-good asset set, you will regenerate pixels instead of shipping software.
One action this week: Create a folder store-assets/current/ with the exact screenshots currently on the store. That is your rollback set before any redesign.
Treat assets like a release train
- Inventory required device classes for your app
- Lock marketing copy on frames before final export
- Export once into versioned folders
- Freeze with metadata day — no midnight crops
Failure modes
- Missing a required size discovered at submit
- UI in shots doesn’t match the binary
- Localized screenshots only half updated
- App preview video audio/length issues late
- Overwriting previous store assets with no backup
Folder layout
store-assets/ current/ # live on store / last good 1.6.0-wip/ # in progress 1.6.0-frozen/ # metadata freeze set
When to skip a visual refresh
If the binary fix is urgent and shots still represent the product honestly, ship without a campaign redesign. Asset vanity is not a hotfix requirement.
Bottom line
Version store assets like builds. Keep a current rollback set. Freeze pixels with metadata, not with panic.
